Worker dies near the Nanaimo Lakes wildfire

A man has died in the wildfire fight on Vancouver Island.

WorkSafeBC confirms the man was found dead in a vehicle south of Nanaimo on Monday night.

He was not a firefighter but it’s believed he died while making a delivery to the firefighters battling the blaze.

WorkSafeBC says the death was not related to a crash and the man worked at a logging company on Vancouver Island.

The B.C. Coroners Service has advised the B.C. Wildfire Service that the death was from natural causes.
