Some humpback whales put on a spectacular show for a group of people staying at a lodge on Vancouver Island recently.
A group of humpback whales came just metres from the dock of the Great Bear Lodge in Port Hardy over the long weekend while a number of guests were having breakfast.

The guests scrambled down to the lower dock and were treated to a rare show.
The guests may also have learned a thing or two about the whales as the lodge says the humpbacks were eating fish using a technique called bubble netting.
According to the Alaska Whale Foundation, humpbacks create “nets formed by cylindrical columns of rising air emitted from their blowholes” to trap fish.
The owner of the Great Bear Lodge says she has never seen this feeding technique before.
