A man has been injured in a collision involving a bicycle and a pick-up truck in Kelowna.

The accident took place on Richter Street, between Doyle and Lawson Tuesday.

Police said it’s believed the 58-year-old cyclist was not wearing head protection and may have veered into the vehicle.

“Police do not believe that the cyclist was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the seriousness of his injuries.  Unconfirmed reports suggest that the cyclist may have suddenly veered into the pickup trucks lane of travel,” RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

RCMP said the man suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old Lake Country man, remained at the scene.
