New Brunswick man arrested in connection with hit and run of child on bicycle

A New Brunswick man was arrested in connection with a hit and run of a child on a bicycle that occurred on the Tobique First Nation Tuesday.

New Brunswick RCMP say that officers received a 911 call shortly before 9 p.m., reporting a hit and run on River Road.

Police say a 6-year-old girl was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle.

The child received minor injuries while the driver of the car fled the scene.

The Mounties say that later that day, they arrested a 38-year-old man from Tobique First Nation.

The man — whose name has not been released — was released on a promise to appear in Woodstock Provincial Court on Oct. 2.
