A few weeks ago, Winnipeg police released a photo of the victim, as well as a description of the suspect, in hopes the public could help with the investigation.
“People in the community know the suspect and you may have seen him in the area before and after the homicide,” Sgt. Wade McDonald said July 4.
“His family wants and deserves justice.”
Police said a DNA profile was also recovered from the crime scene.
That evidence, along with information received on a suspect, led to a warrant, Const. Tammy Skrabek said Thursday.
“At this point it’s completely random and the information from the investigators is that there is no known motivation for the attack. These two people were not known to each other.”
Zachary Brandon Roulette, 24, is charged with second degree murder. He is in custody.
