Petawawa man dies in crash near Apsley

A man from Petawawa, Ont., is dead following a single-vehicle collision east of Apsley on Saturday night.

Just after 11 p.m., Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were called to a crash on County Road 504, just east of Apsley in North Kawartha Township.

Police say a westbound pickup truck lost control and left the roadway, which is about 70 kilometres north of Peterborough.

“The pickup truck crashed through the guard wire and collided with a large rock cut,” OPP stated.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as David Hall, 52, of Petawawa.

The road east of Jack Lake Road was closed for several hours as OPP investigated. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
