Police have arrested two suspects after a U-Haul truck crashed into a home on Hurst Drive in Barrie’s south end.
According to Barrie police, the U-Haul crashed into the house just before 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Police say a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both from Barrie, fled the scene on foot, but were located a few minutes later by police and canine and were arrested.
Officers say further investigation revealed the U-Haul had been reported stolen from the Barrie area on July 11.
According to police, the driver, a 29-year-old man from Barrie, is now facing several charges including impaired driving by drug, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime and driving without a license. Officers say the man was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 29.

Police say the passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Barrie, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Officers say she is being held in custody due to an outstanding warrant for unrelated charges by the South Simcoe Police.
Officers say the pair were not injured as a result of the collision.
