UPDATE: Fire near Oliver, B.C., is ‘pretty much out’

Crews responded to a wildfire burning south of Oliver on Monday afternoon – Jul 16, 2018

A fire burning near Oliver, B.C., is now in the mop-up stage, according to the Oliver Fire Department.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A fire is burning near Oliver, east of Black Sage Road. It is estimated at 20 hectares in size.

According to Global Okanagan’s @Shelby_Thom seven firefighters and one helicopter plus air tankers are involved in battling the blaze.

According to The Oliver Daily News, the power lines were shut off, which shut down pumps that fueled hydrants. However, power has been restored.
