A police officer in Florida couldn’t believe the nerve of the “pedestrian” — a tortoise — slowing him down to a turtle’s pace on the road while he was in his patrol vehicle this past Sunday.
Video posted by deputy sheriff Bryan Bowman on Facebook shows him talking to his cell phone, clearly impatient about being slowed down on the road.
“He’s literally going one mile per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone,” he said. “Guy’s easily 100, he shouldn’t be out on the roadways to begin with. I tried to talk to him and he snapped at me.
“I don’t know what this guy’s deal is.”

Bowman then switches the camera to show what was slowing him down: a tortoise, slowly making its way down the middle of the lane as the officer followed very slowly behind.
Bowman continued his rant about the tortoise, as his vehicle moved agonizingly slowly.

“Come on, grandpa, I got places to be,” he said. “Everyone wants to drive slow with a cop car behind them. Can’t get nowhere on time.”

Officials are not saying whether the tortoise was ticketed for jaywalking or its slow speed, but when asked for comment, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office declined.
