Hamilton police say they’re responding to a ‘sudden death’ of a young child in the city’s downtown.
Police said officers were dispatched to an apartment building on Young Street near John Street at around 5 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Hamilton Paramedic Service said their crews were called to the building, but the spokesperson referred questions to the Hamilton Police Service.

The child’s body was found outside of the building and officers could be seen examining an upper-level balcony.

Police said Wednesday night that the investigation was still in the preliminary stage.
Investigators haven’t released details on the circumstances leading to the child’s death.
