It’s been a long 14 years – with no answers – since then five-year-old Tamra Keepness went missing. Her disappearance prompted an intensive ground search and a comprehensive investigation that continues to this day.

The little girl was last seen in her home one the 1800 block of Ottawa St. the night of July 5th, 2004.

A BBQ is held annually by Regina/Treaty Status Indian Services (RTSIS) and the Regina Police Service to mark this somber anniversary and to remind the public Keepness is still missing.

“I believe that a lot of the family are still feeling the effects certainly, but I think for the people that do come it’s a reminder to look after themselves and look after their children and to always be prepared you never know what’s going to happen out there,” RTSIS Board Member Vernon Bellegarde said.

Although the case is cold, Regina police haven’t stopped searching.

“It is an active investigation we’re not getting many tips anymore so it’s events like today where we bring profile to the disappearance of Tamra,” Regina Police Service Deputy Chief Dean Rae said.

“By raising profile, discussing it, having our community involved, we’re hoping that somebody will come forward with some information that will allow us to work on this.”

A week after Keepness disappeared a $25,000 dollar reward was announced for information leading to her recovery, last year the reward was doubled to $50,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Regina police.
