They may still be on the other side of the world, but that hasn’t stopped local ice dancing duo Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue from showing some love for their hometown.
On Thursday, while the pair was still travelling through Japan and Europe for the 2018 Stars on Ice tour, Moir took to Twitter to announce they’ll be holding a celebration to thank the community of Ilderton.
The community-spirited day will include a parade and live music with surprise bands. There will also be a kid’s zone and food trucks.
The event is being held on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Ilderton Arena and Fairgrounds.
Moir and Virtue reached international fame following their performance at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
Their first-place wins in ice dancing and team figure skating in South Korea brought their total Olympic medal count to five, making them the most decorated figure skaters in the history of the Games.
They now have three gold medals and a pair of silvers.
As for retirement, the two suggested it’s likely but that a solid answer will come this summer.
