Innisfil man facing several charges after collision sends adult, child to hospital

A 32-year-old man from Innisfil is facing several charges after police say he failed to remain at the scene of a collision in the York region.

According to the South Simcoe police, on July 3 at around 2:30 p.m., York Regional Police received a report of a three-vehicle collision in the Yonge Street and Bathurst Street area.

Police say a child and adult were transported to hospital for treatment.

According to police, the accused fled the scene of the collision, and a witness who contacted the York Regional Police followed the vehicle.

South Simcoe police were then notified that the suspect was fleeing into their jurisdiction.

According to the South Simcoe police, they received a number of calls from witnesses reporting a vehicle driving erratically.

Officers ultimately arrested the suspect at his home in Innisfil. When police arrived on scene, they detected the smell of alcohol and issued a breath demand. Police say the accused was transported to the North Division where further testing resulted in readings over 80 mg.

According to police, the Innisfil man is now facing several charges including impaired care or control, over 80 mg, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with recognizance.

Police say the accused was held for a bail hearing.
