Moose killed, driver unharmed in south-end collision

A 21-year-old female driver struck a moose late Tuesday on Hawthorne Road in Ottawa's south end. The driver was unharmed in the accident but the moose was killed on impact, paramedics said. Ottawa Paramedic Service

It was an accident that pitted “car vs moose,” paramedics said – and while the 21-year-old driver came out unharmed, the collision claimed the animal’s life.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service said the woman’s vehicle struck the moose on Hawthorne Road, south of Leitrim Road, at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Paramedics shared a photo of the car’s shattered and caved-in windshield on Twitter.
