Man facing multiple charges after shooting outside of Pickering Ribfest

PICKERING, Ont. – Police have identified the man accused of shooting and wounding four people at an annual Ribfest event east of Toronto this month.

Ahyjay Francis-Simms, 20, from Ajax, Ont., faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.

Durham regional police allege that he fired multiple shots at the crowded family event in Pickering, Ont., on the evening of June 2.

Four people were sent to hospital, including two teenage boys, a 20-year-old man and a 30-year-old man.

All four were treated and released.

Police are asking anyone with new information to contact them.
