A driver of a tractor-trailor lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a median on Highway 401 just east of Highway 8 early Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the scene just after 4 a.m., Const. Lauren Ball said. The crash left two eastbound lanes closed between Hwy. 8 and Hespeler Road for repair to the median and fuel cleanup, Ball said. The lanes reopened shortly before 11 a.m.

The collision caused heavy delays for the morning commute as it affected drivers headed in both directions and saw lines stretch up on the Highway 8 entrance to Sportsworld Drive.
Police say the driver escaped injury. He is facing reckless driving charges.
