If you weren’t one of the early rising parents who successfully signed your kids up for summer camp back in early March when the City of Toronto‘s fun guide registration opened up, all hope is not lost.
“We have 3,800 camps, about 75,000 spaces and 194 locations,” said Howie Dayton, director of community recreation for the City of Toronto.
“While the vast majority of our spaces are full, we still have spaces available in our activity and adventure camps particularly in the Etobicoke, West Toronto York and Toronto East York districts.”
Dayton said one of the more unique City of Toronto camps with availability is Claireville Day Camp in Etobicoke.
“If parents want to give their child an experience in outdoor, eco-nature programming — it also has a horseback riding component to it which is a really cool thing to try out,” he said.

In Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood, Kew Gardens Tennis Club offers half- and full-day tennis camp through July and August and space is still available. Half-day camp starts at $175 and full day is $360 for the week.
“Tennis is the main focus but we do offer some other elements like art and other sports as well,” said Rachel Gould with Kew Gardens Tennis Club.
In the Coxwell and Danforth area, families can still score at Monarch Park Stadium where kids between four and 12 can kick, draw or explore their way through an active week of summer.
“Our most popular camp is our general activity camp. We have lots of space through July and August for that camp. We also run a variety of specialty camps including a half-day arts program, urban adventure camp and a leadership and training camp,” said Kenzie Bertrand.
And something a little different, “Rooks to Cooks” offers junior foodies the chance to plan, cook and eat their own healthy meals under the supervision of trained chefs. The summer camp is offered at 10 locations throughout the GTA and camp tuition ranges between $320 and $475 and includes meals and snacks.
