2 suspects arrested after armed robbery in Shellbrook, Sask.

Shellbrook RCMP say both wanted men have been arrested in relation to an armed robbery at a business earlier this year.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen by two men armed with guns in Shellbrook, Sask., around midnight on April 27. They fled the scene in a car.

As a result of an investigation, police issued arrest warrants for Keith Stonechild and Matthew Lafond on June 1.

Both 29-year-old men are facing charges of robbery with a firearm, using a firearm while committing an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm, and two counts of pointing a firearm.

Lafond was arrested without incident in Shellbrook on the afternoon of June 12.

RCMP announced Stonechild was arrested on the outstanding warrant on July 26. He will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert provincial court on Aug. 1.

He is facing charges of robbery with a firearm, masked with intent, careless use of a firearm and two counts of pointing a firearm.

Stonechild is also facing other matters before the courts.

Shellbrook is approximately 125 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
