Going To The Sun Road

I had the chance to visit beautiful Montana with my husband last week. We were there to explore Glacier National Park (as many people do this time of year). When we drove through the eastern side of the Rockies we realized how much road construction can take the fun out of a roadtrip. This project has been going on for a few years and must be hard to get at these difficult windy roads throughout the seasons. We picked the best season to take this beautiful park in, although after such a heavy snowfall year in the high altitudes we realized that this was not going to be as easy as we thought to hike in the rockies. Above the treeline were new forming waterfalls that were a direct result of spring run off, and it continues still. Here is an article about the incredible amount of snow that is still melting on the infamous “Going To The Sun” road. A road I hope to take again when it is not at risk for avalanches!! It is now open to the public.
