History
Jumbo Glacier mountain resort municipality has existed since November 2012, when the provincial government incorporated it and appointed a three-member municipal council and corporate officer.
But its history dates back to 1991, when a proposal was submitted to the provincial government for a ski resort to be located at Jumbo Mountain and Jumbo Glacier.
Three years prior, the Regional District of East Kootenay had requested that Jumbo have its own municipality.
A master plan for the resort was not approved until March 2012.
