Come Monday, April 16, Calgary city councillors will have a choice. Stick with the road they are on in exploring an Olympic bid or take the off-ramp.
Over the past weeks, we’ve seen a divided council on the issue. Those who appeared to be in favour of an Olympic bid have started to question the whole process.

It doesn’t help that there have been some serious missteps along the way; from confusion over whether the city had received funding from the province and the feds to questions about the conditions behind that funding.
This exercise has reminded me of long car trips with my family of nine. Invariably there would be bickering over who got the best seat or the newest comic book. My father always threatened to pull over.
Council needs to pull over on the Olympics. This is one road trip that has already had too many bumps along the way and we haven’t even reached our destination.
