Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in north Edmonton stabbing

Police have charged a 34-year-old man with second-degree murder after a fatal stabbing in northeast Edmonton in January.

Jarvis Katz died two days after he was found with a stab wound at a home in the area of 118 Avenue and 80 Street. His death was ruled the city’s second homicide of 2018.

Police said Douglas Ronald Hecht was arrested in downtown Edmonton on Thursday, April 5. He has since been charged with second-degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public.

The Edmonton Police Service said Tuesday the investigation into Katz’s death is ongoing.
