Police raid Regina pot shop; owner encourages protest outside police HQ

Regina police appear to be following through on their warnings to cannabis dispensaries in the city.

Best Buds Society, a local pot-shop, posted on their Facebook page on the evening of March 28 that police had raided their downtown shop.

The post said officers cleared the store’s cupboards of marijuana products.

Although police aren’t releasing details, they were able to confirm on March 29 officers had “carried out enforcement operations in the city last night.”

This comes after several warnings from police chief, Evan Bray, who had previously warned storefronts selling pot that what they were doing was illegal, and they could face charges if they didn’t cease operations.

At roughly 10 a.m. on March 29, Pat Warnecke, the owner of Best Buds had posted the below video to Facebook, claiming to have had a “hard night of police raids” and “taking people’s medicine.”

“We’re not going to quit helping people get their medicine. Please come down and show your support. We are going to have an event take place outside of the police station sometime soon here…” Warnecke went on encouraging all patrons of Saskatchewan to attend their event and to show support.

Roughly 50-minutes later, another Facebook post from the shop had confirmed that all patient files were safe.
