A 29-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a homicide in central Edmonton last September.
On Sept. 18, 2017, officers were called to a home near Commonwealth Stadium, at 111 Avenue and 94 Street.
Blayne Joseph Burnstick, 25, was found dead inside the home. An autopsy revealed he died of a gunshot wound. Burnstick’s death was Edmonton’s 36th homicide of 2017.

Last Monday, Edward Piche was arrested by Saskatoon police and transported back to Edmonton where he remains in custody. The 29-year-old has since been charged with second-degree murder in Burnstick’s death, police said on Monday.
Piche was also charged with a number of firearms-related offences.
Just days before Burnstick was found dead — on Sept. 13, 2017 — 76-year-old Nexhmi “Nick” Nuhi was found dead inside the same building. Police later confirmed Nuhi died of a gunshot wound.

In a media release sent Monday, police said homicide detectives continue to investigate Nuhi’s death.
