The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said its homicide detectives have been called out to help investigate a “suspicious death” on the city’s north side on Monday, at the same multi-unit residential building where an elderly man was found after being shot to death last week.
Officers responded to a home in the area of 112 Avenue and 94 Street at around 2 p.m. after someone called 911 for “police assistance,” police said.
Police declined to provide any details about the victim, what happened or why someone called 911.
On Wednesday afternoon, EPS identified the victim as Blayne Joseph Burnstick. They said the 25-year-old was not a resident of the building. No further details were provided in the update.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, Sept. 13, police officers found the body of 76-year-old Nexhmi “Nick” Nuhi in a common area of the same home.
Police later confirmed Nuhi died of a gunshot wound.
Police have not announced any arrests in connection with his shooting death and say they continue to investigate.
