Air Canada system outage leading to long delays at Vancouver Airport

WATCH: Anyone flying Air Canada today was faced with major delays after the airline's system broke down. It took the airline hours to catch up, leaving thousands of travelers stranded. Geoff Hastings reports – Mar 12, 2018

UPDATE: Air Canada said their system is back online Monday afternoon, but there could still be several hours of delays while staff gets organized. YVR is advising travelers to be patient and plan ahead.

If you are heading to Vancouver Airport (YVR) Monday and flying on Air Canada, be prepared for a long wait.

Due to a malfunction with Air Canada’s system, passengers were unable to check in and drop off baggage for hours Monday morning.

The system is back up and running but travellers should expect massive delays.

Air Canada is responding to people on Twitter, saying they apologize for any inconvenience.

The outage is affecting Air Canada travellers everywhere, not just at YVR. Reports are coming in from travellers worldwide, saying their Air Canada planes have been grounded.
