Trains were stopped briefly in both directions Friday morning on Edmonton’s main LRT line, after police responded to a gun complaint at the McKernan-Belgravia station.
Edmonton police said they responded to the weapon’s complaint on a train at the southside station near 114 Street and 76 Avenue.
For the safety of all transit riders, trains travelling on the entire line were stopped while police responded.

Just north of the Belgravia station, one person on Twitter said a train on southbound tracks at the University of Alberta “just set off northbound, but without telling anyone; it was empty, loads of people on platform hoping to go north.”
Police took a man and woman into custody at McKernan-Belgravia but found no gun, EPS spokeswoman Carolin Maran said. There were no reported injuries, she added.
Alberta Health Services said while there were no injuries, EMS responded and took a women to hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition.

Police said the man was charged with uttering threats, but the woman was not charged.
It all happened sometime just before 8:30 a.m., when the Edmonton Transit System sent out a tweet saying there would be a delay.
The City of Edmonton had little say when asked for information. “ETS accommodated request from EPS this morning. LRT service gradually returning to normal,” a city spokesperson said.
When asked for clarification on what time it happened and what direction the train was going in, the city refused to answer and deferred to Edmonton police.

There’s no word on whether charges will be laid.
Trains resumed operation about 10 minutes later. Just after 10 a.m., ETS said all operations were back to normal.
