“That stretch of highway is a 90 km per hour zone,” said Châteauguay police spokesperson Nathalie Langevin.

“It’s also a poorly lit area. Factored in with the falling snow, there is not much the driver could have done to avoid the pedestrian.”

The victim was transported to Anna-Laberge Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was also transported to the hospital and treated for shock.
