The London Lightning exorcised a demon or two on Friday night as they knocked off the Express 124-121 in Windsor on Friday night.

Kyle Johnson provided the dagger by hitting a three-pointer with less than two seconds left.

That shot and the victory that followed stopped a three-game losing streak for the Lightning against the Express and gave London their seventh win in eight games.

Windsor had been a big blemish on the Lightning’s record. Through a recent nine-game stretch, those three losses to the Express were the only losses London had.

The loss to the Lightning snapped Windsor’s three-game streak.

London shot 58.8 per cent overall and held the Express to 48.9 per cent shooting.

Ryan Anderson continued to be hot with 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Royce White chipped in another 21 points and Doug Herring Jr. had 14. Herring Jr. was almost perfect from three-point range, hitting four of his five attempts.

Maurice Jones and Omar Strong led Windsor with 22 points apiece.

The teams stayed close throughout the game. London led 61-60 at the half and no lead during the game was larger than six points.

In the second half, London went on a 14-0 run and led 75-63 before Windsor started to claw back. The Express trailed by four points through three quarters.

London held up well defensively through almost all of the fourth quarter and led by nine with less than 90 seconds to go.

Jones hit a three for Windsor to give them life and his layup with 14 seconds remaining tied the game 121-121.

The Express even had their own chance at a late three to go ahead, but Shaquille Keith’s attempt missed and opened the door for Johnson to win it and he did.

This was the second time in less than a month that the Lightning won a game on a late three. Doug Herring Jr. nailed one with 13.1 seconds to go against the K-W Titans on February 18 at Budweiser Gardens.

London is now halfway through eight straight games away from home and set to head to Atlantic Canada for a week. The Lightning will play in Moncton on Sunday afternoon and be in Saint John for a game at 6 p.m. Eastern on Monday.

The Lightning will play their next home game on March 15 against Cape Breton.
