Late singer Whitney Houston‘s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, said in a recent interview that he doesn’t think Houston died from drug use.
Houston was found dead in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room just before the Grammy Awards in 2012, and the coroner confirmed she died by accidental drowning, but heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors.

In the interview with Rolling Stone, Brown said drugs weren’t the reason she died; instead, he said, she was “broken-hearted.”
“She was really working hard on herself to try to be a sober person and, um… she was a great woman,” he said, saying other things played a part in her death.
He then went on to say that Houston’s purported drug use is the “most misunderstood thing” about her.
Houston and Brown’s only child, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, died three years later in 2015 in an eerily similar fashion: the 22-year-old was found unconscious and submerged in a bathtub and died months later in hospital.

The underlying cause of Bobbi Kristina’s death was ultimately determined as immersion associated with drug intoxication, but the type of drug has never been revealed.
Brown, 49, believes there hasn’t been any justice served in his child’s death. Her ex, Nick Gordon, was ordered to pay US$36 million to her estate in relation to her passing, and he has yet to pay one cent. (Gordon was the one who found Bobbi Kristina in the bathtub.)
“He’s still walking around free,” said a disgusted Brown.
When asked how justice should be served, he replied, “Justice? If he was locked up somewhere where somebody can rape him. That’s just how I feel. He raped me by taking my daughter away.”
