A 40-year-old Vernon woman is facing charges of impaired driving after a single vehicle crash Tuesday evening.
RCMP were called to the 3700 block of Alexis Park Drive just before 7 p.m.after a vehicle slammed into a pole.
Police said an impaired driving investigation was launched after the attending officer observed what RCMP describe as signs and symptoms of alcohol consumption.
The driver was arrested and taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital to be treated for what were believed to be minor injuries.
After being released from hospital, the female was escorted back to the RCMP detachment where she provided two samples of her breath that, according to police, were both three times over the legal limit.
“This was a very serious collision and the vehicle sustained significant damage,” Cst. Kelly Brett said. “Not only is the driver fortunate to have sustained only minor injuries, but that no one else was seriously injured as a result.”
The woman is scheduled to make a court appearance on April 26.
