Perimeter lockdown lifted at Saskatoon school after threat ruled false alarm

An alleged online threat to an elementary school in Saskatoon’s Exhibition neighbourhood on Wednesday, turned out be to a false alarm.

Saskatoon police said a concerned parent reported seeing a message regarding the potential for an event with a firearm.

Officers were sent to 2141 McPherson Ave. at roughly 1:25 p.m. CT.

St. Frances School immediately went into a perimeter lockdown, while classes continued uninterrupted.

Police said subsequent investigation revealed that a school of the same name in a different location was the actual recipient of the threat.

The perimeter lockdown has now been lifted.
