Another inmate has died at Drumheller Institution, Global News has confirmed.
It’s the second death at the federal prison in just three days.
EMS confirmed they were called to the institution at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for reports of an adult male in medical distress.
EMS said the inmate was declared deceased at the scene.
RCMP also confirmed officers attended the institution and said the death is not believed to be suspicious. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
On the weekend, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) confirmed a 29-year-old inmate died.
CSC confirmed Anatoly Eichman died Saturday, but didn’t provide any details about the cause of death.
Officials said Eichman was serving a sentence of two years, five months and 21 days for possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition.
CSC said it will “review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.”
CSC has not yet responded to a request for information about the second inmate’s death.
