Residents of Stewart and Isbister Streets north of Portage Avenue near Unicity Mall woke up Jan. 13 to find vandals had spray painted numerous homes with ‘South Side Serpents’ and random tags believed to be a reference to a popular Netflix show.

Police said the graffiti on homes, vehicles, fences and buildings caused thousands of dollars in damage.

“I don’t know what motivated these three people. For us to get an idea of what was happening was very difficult,” Const. Tammy Skrabek said.

Following the weekend, police had received just three reports of vandalism. The full scope of the damage only became clear after patrol officers went knocking on doors.

“So it’s a reminder to the public: something as insignificant as spray paint on your garage might not be insignificant to us.”

Video evidence was used to identify the suspects.

A 20-year old man and two 19-year-old women were arrested Jan. 24 and charged with mischief.  Their identities have not been released.
