Saskatchewan’s population continues to grow, with more than 1,168,000 people calling the province home on Oct. 1.
Latest figures released by Statistics Canada on Wednesday said population grew 0.4 per cent during the third quarter, an increase of just over 4,000 people since July 1.
Saskatchewan has grown by more than 160,000 people in the past decade, the largest 10-year population growth since the 1920s.
Premier Brad Wall said the province’s best days are ahead.
“Saskatchewan has enjoyed a decade of growth that has strengthened our province and allowed our government to make important investments in health, education, infrastructure and quality of life for everyone in our province,” Wall said in a statement.
“I believe we are now entering a second decade of growth and that Saskatchewan’s best days are still ahead.”
The agency said international migration was the primary driver for growth in the last quarter.
