A rally was held Thursday morning on the steps of the Vernon court house.

Missing and murdered women’s advocate, Meagan Louis, says the rally is to remember five women who have disappeared in the north Okanagan in the last two years and to bring awareness to violence against women.

Inside the court house, Curtis Wayne Sagmoen made a brief appearance by video link from the jail where he’s being held on charges related to alleged threats made at gunpoint against a sex-trade worker in August.

The remains of one of the missing women, Traci Genereaux, were recently found during an intense police search on the Salmon River Road farm property where Sagmoen was living.

No charges have been laid in that homicide investigation.

Sagmoen’s case was put over to December 14th.
