Fanshawe College faculty were back at work Monday, with students scheduled to return to class Tuesday morning.
As a result of the five-week strike, the fall and winter semester have both been extended to make up for class time missed during the strike, which ended Sunday after the provincial government passed back-to-work legislation.
There will be no classes or exams scheduled during the break. Since the fall term rolls over into the new year, Devlin says both the fall and winter terms have been shortened by two weeks.

“We’re centered on learning outcomes and we also have good respect for the accrediting bodies, professional associations, as well as the Ministry. We have to make sure that we do achieve what needs to be achieved for those three organizations,” he said.
The winter semester will begin Jan. 22 and end April 27.
Devlin understand this may be a confusing time for students, and says the college is ready to answer any questions or concerns.
“Students should first start with questions to their faculty and their student advisers. We will continue to run student info session all this week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and we have extended hours for all kinds of student services over this week,” he said.
Students are encouraged to check for updates on the Fanshawe College website regularly.
