Peterborough city council has rejected BrandHealth’s second attempt to come up with a slogan for the city, sending the company back to the drawing board.
During Tuesday’s council meeting BrandHealth presented its second attempt, “Live Outside the Ordinary,” after its first suggested slogan, “Where Roads and Rivers Meet,” was rejected.
The slogan is one part of a $400,000 re-branding effort. BrandHealth was paid $77,000 to come up with Peterborough’s new catchphrase.
But after two attempts, one councillor is suggesting it’s time for the city to cut its losses and move on.
“We’re spending a huge amount of money on rebranding,” said Ashburnham Ward councillor Keith Riel.
Riel said he’d rather see the city rejig its current slogan — Peterborough, It’s a Natural — and come up with a new colour scheme.
“For me, I think that enough taxpayers money has been spent, let’s let them keep the tagline that we have, that’s already on our vehicles and clothing and move on,” Riel said.
But the idea of a new tagline hasn’t been scrapped yet. Instead, council voted for city staff to come up with a few options.
