Buckle up, Montreal — the largest cluster of closures on the Turcot Interchange is set to occur this weekend, meaning headaches-galore for drivers who regularly use the important transit hub.
Turcot work has been ongoing for a while, as the exchange is demolished and replaced, step-by-step.

This week, the province’s transport ministry announced it is closing down more than a half dozen important thoroughfares over the weekend.
“It’s taking a long time,” lamented Kathleen Vaughn, a pedestrian who walks in front of the Turcot Interchange on a regular basis.
“Everyone is fed up with having to reroute because of construction.”
Two roads are expected to be closed until at least 2019:
- The ramp linking the westbound A-720 to the Champlain Bridge,
- The ramp off de la Vérendrye Boulevard that leads to the southbound Highway 15.
Transports Quebec officials suggest drivers use the Mercier Bridge and Bonaventure autoroute, if possible.

Traffic consultant Rick Leckner explained another massive phase of work is set to start next month, when the entire westbound Ville-Marie Expressway closes long-term.

“That’s going to be massive,” Leckner said.

Leckner said work this weekend could hinder the Santa Claus Parade, which is slated for Nov. 18.
