A 26-year-old woman was arrested overnight after crashing into a police cruiser in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.

The collision happened at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday on St-Denis Street near Mont-Royal Avenue, while officers were on a call to try and  locate a suspect wanted in connection with an assault.

Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson Benoit Boiselle said the cruiser was heading north on St-Denis when it U-turned so that officers could attempt to identify an individual.

Boiselle said it was during the U-turn that the woman, also heading north on Saint-Denis, crashed into the driver-side of the police car.
