City of Saskatoon cautions drivers about icy roads

The City of Saskatoon is reminding drivers to be aware that a combination of falling snow, decreasing temperatures and icy conditions can cause road conditions to change quickly.

Drivers are asked to slow down and move with caution on icy roads where melted snow from Saturday is now frozen.

Crews were out in full force Sunday, sanding intersections along Circle Drive, high-traffic roads and high-risk locations. Even with the use of sand, the city said extra moisture from snow may result in slippery sections during peak driving times.

Graders and sidewalk crews continue to clean up after Friday night’s snowfall.

Icy spots can be reported via the city’s 24-hour customer service centre at 306-975-2476 or by emailing snow@saskatoon.ca.
