Steady offence from Patrick Maroon boosts Edmonton Oilers

Patrick Maroon is riding the longest point streak of his career.

“No, not until you guys bring it up,” he said during an interview Saturday at Rogers Place.

“I just try to go out there and play hard every night and hope for the best for our team.”

Maroon has a point in seven straight games (four goals, three assists), topping a six-game streak he had with Anaheim in January 2015.

“I think he’s a little more engaged. Every now and then he has some players mad at him on the other team,” head coach Todd McLellan said.

“We talked about that last year, how important that is.”

The Oilers will be trying to win back-to-back games for the first time all season when they host Detroit Sunday afternoon.
