Ontario Provincial Police arrived on the scene at 3 a.m. after a van struck a hydro pole in Tillsonburg.
Police arrested a 24-year-old male driver at the scene of the crash at Broadway Street and Lisgar Avenue.

The driver was then transported to Tillsonburg OPP where a parallel criminal investigating is ongoing.
As a result of an alleged injury sustained while in police custody, the OPP notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit which has invoked its mandate.
The OPP will not be providing any further information and any other inquiries should be directed to the SIU.
