Highway 35 lanes reopen in City of Kawartha Lakes

Construction on a section of Highway 35 in the City of Kawartha Lakes is now complete – nearly a month ahead of schedule.

In a release, the City says the Ministry of Transportation confirmed that the Stoney Creek culvert replacement project is finished and all lanes of the busy highway about 6 kilometres south of Lindsay are now reopen.

“The contractor will still be on site conducting work which may require traffic control flagging operations,” the city stated.

Construction work (including removal of the old culvert and improvements at the Highway 7/Mount Horeb Road area) began in late September and was expected to be completed by Nov. 17.

Numerous detours were in place for the nearly 9,000 vehicles which use the highway daily.

“The contractor completed the work in 31 days working 24 hours and day 7 days a week,” the city stated.

“The Ministry of Transportation expresses their appreciation for the patience of all involved in this project, including motorists. The success of this project and was made possible with teamwork from the municipality, school boards, bus lines, first responder services and local residents.”
