Calgary police are investigating a possible case of food tampering.

On Monday morning, officers were called to Abbeydale Elementary School after reports a Grade 1 student bit into an apple and found a sewing needle inside.

Police said the child had reportedly brought the apple to school but it’s still unknown where the apple was purchased.

The Calgary Board of Education is aware of the situation and said the child was not injured.
