Just days after powerful winds resulted in destructive wildfires in parts of southern Alberta, most of the southern part of the province was once again under a wind warning on Sunday.
“Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring,” Environment Canada said on its website, adding winds with gusts of 90 to 110 kilometres per hour were expected develop late Sunday morning before diminishing in the evening.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” the weather agency said. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”
The weather agency issues wind warnings when “there is a significant risk of damaging winds.”
