Head-on collision near Erin kills one, seriously injures two others

Early Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to reports of a collision between two vehicles on the Halton-Erin Townline, near Ballinafad.

Police say the collision involved a Dodge minivan and a Kia SUV which collided head-on.

Provincial police were joined at the scene by the Halton Hills Fire Department, Halton Region Paramedic Services and the Halton Regional Police.

The driver of the Kia, a 37-year old Brampton man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the same vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

An unidentified driver of the Dodge minivan was also rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is still unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the OPP’s technical collision investigators.

The name of the deceased will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
