A Surrey man is in the custody of the Metro Vancouver Transit Police after what investigators called an alleged, unprovoked assault on a SkyTrain passenger that took place on Monday night.
Thirty-two-year-old Jeremy William Thayer has been arrested and charged with uttering threats in connection with an incident that unfolded just before 7:30 p.m.
The male victim boarded the SkyTrain at King George station in Surrey on Monday at about that time, said a Transit Police news release.
The suspect then sat in front of the victim. The latter took a call on his cell phone.

Once the call was over, the suspect turned back to the victim, swearing, yelling and threatening violent action, according to police.

The train later pulled into Surrey Central, one station over, where the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim, punched him and threw him out the train doors before allegedly kicking him and jumping back on the train, said police.
A number of witnesses then called police.
Thayer, who is “well known to police,” has been remanded in custody until Oct. 20, when he’s expected to make an appearance in Surrey Provincial Court.
