Newly-elected NPA Coun. Hector Bremner looks forward to helping ease people’s concerns around Vancouver’s housing market.
“Now with four votes on the council, I think it’s momentum for our message. We have an opportunity to do some really exciting things at city council right away,” said Bremner.
Speaking on the Jill Bennett show on CKNW, Bremner said the city can offer housing options to people by using city-owned land.

He said building long-term non-market and market housing on public properties could help ease off the pressure.
“By taking the land cost out – which is the vast majority of capital expenditure – bringing what we believe could be ultimately tens of thousands of affordable units to the housing to the market,” Bremner said.
Bremner won the seat left empty by former councillor Geoff Meggs with more than 27 per cent of all votes.
Unofficial results show that fewer than 11 per cent of eligible Vancouverites showed up to vote.
