The Vancouver police are investigating a woman’s death in a West End apartment, an incident that marks the city’s 17th homicide of the year.
The victim has now been identified as Marline Mars, a 34-year-old Vancouver resident.
Officers were called to a unit in the Jervis and Harwood Street area just before 4 p.m. on Friday.
When they arrived at the apartment, they found a dead woman and other individuals who were not hurt.

Police investigating the incident do not believe it was random. The unhurt individuals are being treated as witnesses.
The suspect appears to have fled the scene before emergency services showed up.
